Training Seminar in Risk Assessment in Southern EuropeWA 4 Seminar Lisbon, Portugal, 15-16 May, 2008
![]() In Work Area 4 (WA 4) Risk Assessment and Risk Management (RA/RM) strategies for integrated risk management in Water Safety Plans (WSP) are developed together with guiding manuals and hands-on tools tailor-made to water utility personnel aiming at carry out integrated risk assessments within water supply systems.
One tool in the TECHNEAU RA/RM Toolbox is the training seminars on risk assessment where knowledge acquired within WA 4 are disseminated in three different regions (North Europe, South Europe and Southern Africa). The first set of seminars are focusing on risk assessment and are held during 2008. These seminars are designed as two-days workshops including lectures on risk assessment practice and hands-on training exercises. Experts from TECHNEAU (WA 4) are engaged together with local water experts and stakeholders. The seminars are aimed at operators, researchers, regulators and technology suppliers.
The very first training seminar on risk assessment will take place in Lisbon and highlight the water situation and risks in water supply systems in Southern Europe. It will be organized by the Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil (LNEC) and the Associação Portuguesa de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental (APESB), with support from the European Commission, the Instituto Regulador de Águas e Resíduos (IRAR), EPAL, S.A and Águas do Algarve, S.A.
